Adaptive Reuse
Adaptive reuse of existing buildings gives new life to structures that have outgrown their original intended use. The work is challenging but can reveal remarkable new visions with a creative balance of the existing, often historic, character and the intervention of new architecture. Adaptive reuse is also sustainable architecture as it recycles existing building stock for new use.Pimsler Hoss Architects has an extensive background in adaptive reuse projects and the work continues to be a significant part of our design portfolio.

Crogman School
The long-vacant existing school property in the Pittsburg neighborhood of Atlanta has been adapted into a multi-family apartment complex. The school houses 43 units; a new 3-story building constructed on the playground of the school houses 62 more units. The apartments in the existing building maintain the original character of the school. Each features large windows, ample daylight and high ceilings. The auditorium and stage will be refurbished to provide a large community room for the neighborhood.
